HOW TO USE AQUA GREEN
AquaGreen was developed to hold moisture available for the plant roots when the plant needs to take a drink. In order to achieve this goal, AquaGreen must be installed in a particular manner to maximize these results .
New Lawns:
1. Prep the existing ground to be ready for new sod installation. a. Remove old turf manually or spray with weed killer b. Remove all sticks c. Adjust drainage of the new turf area before laying sod
2. Apply AquaGreen to the top layer of soil with a depth of 2 inches minimum thickness. a. Apply with a mechanical blower unit or manually spread the product. b. Roll the AquaGreen area and look at the drainage of the yard. c. Walk the area and check for the 2 inch minimum thickness d. If satisfied, before laying new turf take a hose and water the AquaGreen to the point of runoff. You will see the water travel and determine if your drainage direction is correct.
3. Lay Sod a. Roll the newly layed sod b. Clean up the installation and you are finished. c. Irrigate the grass for 10 minutes and you are done. d. Water for 10 minutes every week for the next 3 weeks. e. Stay off the sodded area for the first 7 days.
4. Turf is established and ready for the first mowing after 10 days.
Single Plants:
1. Dig the hole for the plant twice as wide the size of the rootball.
2. Dig the hole twice as deep as the rootball
3. Fill up the bottom of the hole with AquaGreen to the desired height of setting the plant on top.
4. Set the plant in place.
5. Backfill the hole with AquaGreen.
6. Tamp all the backfill into place.
7. Water the plant for 5 minutes , be sure that the irrigation is being absorbed by the AquaGreen.
8. Water the plant again in 10 days.
9. Set the watering schedule to 10 minutes every 14 days. If you get a rainshower during that time period, you can go another 14 days before irrigation is needed.
Planting Bed:
This would entail the creation of a planting bed area that you are planting multiple plants and shrubs or a bed of flowers.
1. Create the bed with 100% AquaGreen.
2. Plant the plants as you would normally.
3. Water the entire bed for 10 minutes.
4. Since the surface area of the bed acts as one giant reservoir of water, you can go up to 20 days without the need for more irrigation. If you get a rainshower during that time period, you can go another 20 days before irrigation is needed.
Trees:
When planting trees, dependent on the size of the root ball, you may have a hard time digging deep enough into the soil profile to get the desired results for the product to maximize its water holding capacity. Since the deeper you dig into the soil, the unknown such as rocks and soil type. So we are going to add some tools to the list before you attempt to install the tree root ball.
Tool List:
1. A reversible drill
2. A 2 foot or longer auger bit that is at least 2 inches in diameter
3. Extension Cord
4. 1 inch piece of PVC pipe 4 feet long
5. Broom handle at least 5 feet long
How to Install:
Assuming the soil is able to be dug freely, utilize the following method:
Assuming the Soil is too difficult to dig a hole twice as deep as the root ball use the following method.
1. Dig the hole for the tree twice as wide the size of the root ball. Dig as far down as you can into the hole. 2. Take the Reversible Drill and Attach the 2 inch Auger bit to the Drill. 3. Make 3 to 6 drill holes in the bottom.
4. Remove the drill dirt from the hole.
5. Take the piece of PVC Pipe and set into one of the holes
6. Fill the pipe with AquaGreen
7. Tamp the AquaGreen Out of the PVC pipe with the broom handle as you remove the PVC pipe. This should have filled the hole you drilled with AquaGreen.
8. Repeat until all the drill holes are filled.
9. Drill another 4 holes at 45 degree angles in each section of the hole.
10. Take the PVC Pipe and fill those holes as well.
11. Remove the drill dirt from the hole
12. Fill the hole till you are satisfied where the root ball will sit.
13. Set the Tree root ball in the hole.
14. Backfill with AquaGreen
15. Set the Piece of PVC Pipe into the side where it is not visible from the street.
16. Fill the pipe with AquaGreen.
17. Leave the pipe in the ground.
18. When watering the tree, all you need to do is turn a bubbler or drip water the moisture into the pipe
19. 30 minutes of drip irrigation is sufficient every week.
Potted Plants
1. For new plantings, simply fill the container with AquaGreen and plant your hanging basket or potted plant.
2. For a hanging basket, you will only need to water once every 30 days.
For a potted plant, you will only need to water once every 30 days.
